CASE ALTERNATION

n. in reading research, refers to a method of presenting stimulus words through characters that switch between upper-case and lower-case. Theoretically, there are 6 ways of making the switch: (1) to complete the word as is (CHANGE/change)- (2) to alternate letters (ChAnGe)- (3) to switch after the second letter (CHange)- (4) to switch after the third letter (CHAnge)- (5) to switch after the fourth letter (CHANge)- and (6) to switch after each pair (CHanGE).
