BUTABARBITAL

n. a short-term, intermediate-acting barbiturate prescribed for insomnia and other anxiety-related conditions. (Trade name: Butisol Sodium) This barbiturate acts as a nonselective CNS depressant and, thus, can be potentially lethal in an overdose. It is relatively safe, however, for preoperative sedation and daytime use.

BUTABARBITAL: “As a barbiturate, butabarbital has its therapeutic effects, but it also has the potential to be toxic when abused.”
