CELL ADHESION MOLECULE (CAM)

n. any of a number of protein molecules which typically act as transmembrane receptors. These proteins adhere to cell surfaces and bind either with other cells or with extracellular matrix. They assist in cell migration or extension, especially during developmental stages.

CELL ADHESION MOLECULE (CAM): “Aided by every cell adhesion molecule (CAM), body tissues and organs are able to develop and maintain their multicellular structure.”
