BRUNSWIK RATIO

n. a methematical equation which calculates perceptual constancy along with variations in environmental factors. This is expressed as: (P – R)HO – R), where P is the perceived size, R is the image size on the retina, H is the height, and O is the objective or actual size. Devised by U.S. psychologist Ergon Brunswik (1903-1955).
