BRODMANN’S AREA

n. a grouping of areas found in the cerebral cortex. They are identified and numbered according to their specific brain functions. Area 4, for example, is designated as the motor cortex while Area 17 corresponds to the primary visual cortex.

BRODMANN’S AREA: “From 47 areas originally identifed as Brodmann’s Area (1909), the list has expanded to over 200 different areas.”
