BRAHMACHARYA

n. In Hindu tradition, signifies not only the first of four stages of life but also the first of five virtues in Raja-Yoga: that of chastity. In an attitude of continence, a person willingly accepts a life of self-imposed celibacy before puberty and for nearly two decades. See Hinduism.
