n. a network of cervical and thoracic nerves which transmit impulses to the chest, shoulder, arm, and hand. It is affected by intense activities which cause trauma to the shoulder. Thus, a shoulder injury can be potential disabling because it could impair this network of nerves. See brachial plexus injury.
