BARGAINING STAGE

n. third among five stages in the dying process. First described by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, a Swiss-born U.S. psychiatrist. Facing loss and death, a dying person ties to strike a deal, either with God or with fate, in order to delay death or prolong life.

BARGAINING STAGE: “The bargaining stage is an attempt to negotiate with someone who seemingly has control over the life-and-death situation.”
