AUXILIARY VERB

refers to a verb that is used to indicate the tense, mood, or voice of another verb. For example: in Do you pray the auxiliary verb is do. Other common auxiliary verbs in the English language are: can, could, shall, should, will, would, may, might, and must. Also known as auxiliary.

AUXILIARY VERB: “The person used the auxiliary verb can in the sentence Can you pray to indicate the voice of the verb pray.”
