ARTIFICIAL LIFE

a research area of artificial intelligence, whereby computer-based life forms are generated. Such forms, as first proposed by Austrian-born U.S. mathematician John von Neumann (1903-1957), are often constructed from cellular automata or other matter. The state of each cell, together with the state of its immediate neighbors, determines its chances of survival. This research area often attempts to simulate the results of communication.

ARTIFICIAL LIFE: “Artificial life refers to the robot-like forms that can be generated to simulate human actions. “
