APPESTAT

Historically, a single hypothetical area in the brain believed to regulate appetite and food intake. Although parts of the hypothalamus (see lateral hypothalamus- ventromedial nucleus) and brainstem (see solitary nucleus) have been shown to be implicated in appetite and food intake, the idea of a single is probably unrealistic and over simplistic.

APPESTAT: “The appestat is a single brain region that was once hypothesized to control appetite and food intake.”
