ANXIETY NEUROSIS

in psychoanalysis, this refers to a disturbance or neurosis. The most prominent symptoms are thought to be persistent anxiety, feelings of impending disaster, and free-floating fear accompanied by symptoms like difficulties making decisions, insomnia, loss of appetite, and heart palpitations. This term is now seldom used because it has been superseded by the term generalized anxiety disorder. Also known as anxiety state. See also anxiety disorders.
