AMINOTRANSFERASE

noun. Any of a category of transferease minerals that catalyze the passing on of an amino unit from a contributing molecule to a receiving molecule. Aspartate and aminotransferases are the most widely recognized. These are generally discovered in the heart and liver, and are dispersed into the blood because of injury to the heart and liver. Thus, these minerals are viewed as signs of heart and liver performance tests.

AMINOTRANSFERASE: “Alanine is a common aminotransferase that most people are unaware of, which is vital to the proper functioning of the muscles, kidneys, and more.”
