ALDOSTERONE

noun. a mineralocorticoid hormone released by the adrenal cortex. It assists in the regulation of nutrient and H2O metabolic processes by encouraging release of potassium and reabsorption of salt in the kidneys. Creation of it is managed by the renin- angiotensin system.
