You can use the following formula to check if a number is an integer in Excel:
=INT(A2)=A2
This particular formula checks if the number in cell A2 is an integer and returns either TRUE or FALSE.
This formula works by using the INT function to extract the integer portion of the number in cell A2 and then checks if it is equal to the entire number in cell A2.
The following example shows how to use this formula in practice.
Example: How to Check if Number is an Integer in Excel
Suppose we have the following list of numbers in Excel:
Suppose we would like to check if each number in column A is an integer.
To do so, we can type the following formula into cell B2:
=INT(A2)=A2
We can then drag and fill this formula down to each remaining cell in column B:
Column B now displays either TRUE or FALSE to indicate whether or not the corresponding value in column A is an integer.
For example:
- 12 is an integer so the formula returns TRUE.
- 14.2 is not an integer so the formula returns FALSE.
- 15.00001 is not an integer so the formula returns FALSE.
And so on.
For example, you can use the following formula to return “Yes” or “No” instead:
=IF(INT(A2)=A2, "Yes", "No")

Column B now displays “Yes” or “No” to indicate whether or not the corresponding value in column A is an integer.
