RETROSPECTIVE FALSIFICATION

Deliberately or unconsciously making changes to a story each time it is repeated to exaggerate good points or increase interest in the story. Adding false specifics to recollections of prior events, especially as perpetrated by an individual suffering from paranoid schizophrenia to buttress their persecutory delusions.
