monocular rearing

MONOCULAR REARING

is the process of ensuring that an animal develops, once born, with the use of only one eye, by either suturing together the eyelids of one eye or by inserting opaque contact lenses to gauge the effect this has on the development of parts of the brain and the rest of the animals visual system.

MONOCULAR REARING: “By stitching together eyelids of one eye, or using any other method which ensures only one eye develops, the research will be committing monocular rearing.”
