brightness contrast

BRIGHTNESS CONTRAST

n. an enhanced difference in the degree of brightness perceived between two objects as a result of viewing them side by side or simultaneously. Also called simultaneous lightness contrast.

BRIGHTNESS CONTRAST: “To illustrate brightness contrast, see how a white-colored object looks more vivid on a black background rather than on a gray one.”
