BRAIN ABSCESS

n. the pus and cellular debris from immune cells which collect in the brain, specifically within its membranes or meninges. It is secondary to local infection from anywhere in the head region and subject to remote infection due to complications in the heart, lungs, and kidneys. Also called cerebral abscess.

BRAIN ABSCESS: “Due to infection and increased intracranial pressure, a brain abscess can result in damage to neurological function.”
