VIENNA CIRCLE

a set of mathematicians, philosophers, and logicians who were based in Vienna in the 1920’s and 1930’s. The uniting theme of their work was trying to systematize the empirical and positivist tradition utilizing the techniques of contemporary symbolic logic a strategy which came to be recognized as logical positivism.
