VENTRICULOATRIAL SHUNT

a surgically made pathway for draining cerebrospinal fluid from the brain’s ventricles to the exterior jugular vein, as in the remediation of hydrocephalus. The shunt transports the fluid via a catheter to the venous system which discharges into the heart’s right atrium.

VENTRICULOATRIAL SHUNT: “The ventriculoatrial shunt needs to be replaced.”
