VASOPRESSIN

noun. a peptide hormone which is synthesized in the hypothalamus and dispersed by nerve terminals housed in the posterior pituitary gland. It takes on an imperative role in the retaining of water throughout the body and in the controlling of blood pressure by constricting small blood vessels, that elevates blood pressure.
