1. the extraordinary overvaluing of tulip bulbs which took place in Holland during the 17th century. Initially posited into Holland during the late 1500’s, bulbs quickly became highly regarded and expensive. Their value grew over the following 40 years till some of the lesser common bulbs were similar in price to a private home; these bulbs were no longer planted but rather shown as an implication of the owner

TULIPMANIA: “During the period known as tulipmania, some people voluntarily bartered everything they owned, including their saved monies, to buy tulip bulbs and then sell them for a higher cost to return a significant profit.”
