THYROTOXICOSIS

noun. a condition elicited by an extra amount of thyroid hormones, that might be generated by an overactive thyroid gland or delivered therapeutically. The endogenous type might be hereditary and can consist of an autoimmune response wherein the patient’s antibodies excite the cells generating thyroid hormone instead of killing them. Thyrotoxicosis is marked by palpitation, heat sensitivity with sweating, nervousness, weakness, increased appetite with weight loss, and tremor. There might be exophthalmos correlated with goiter.
