Signs of Pregnancy the Day After Conception

What Is Conception

Most medical professionals agree that conception is a lengthy process that is not easily pinpointed. Intercourse is the most obvious step, but a myriad of other events must come together for conception to occur. The most important of these events is ovulation. A fertilized egg makes its way down the fallopian tubes to the uterus, where it implants itself into the uterine wall. Once implantation is complete, the entire process of conception has taken place, from start to finish.

What Causes Pregnancy Symptoms

Pregnancy symptoms are not actually caused by the fetus itself, but by the hormone Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin, which is produced by women only during pregnancy. This hormone is also what causes a pregnancy test to turn positive. HCG does not begin to produce until implantation has occurred. Therefore, it is impossible to have authentic pregnancy symptoms prior to the implanting of a fertilized egg into the uterine lining.

What s In A Symptom

There are a lot of symptoms attached to pregnancy, and they can be tricky to decipher, especially by first time moms. Many women will not have, or at least not notice, signs of pregnancy immediately after conception, but some do. There are very few signs this early in the pregnancy game, but spotting is very common the day after conception. When implantation occurs, a small amount of blood may break through. This is generally no more blood than scant spotting, and occurs for one to three days. One of the most typical and earliest pregnancy signs reported following conception is tender breasts. Your breasts might feel heavier than normal; nipples are often sore and bluish veins become prominent across your chest. Another frequently touted sign of pregnancy in the early stages is fatigue. Some women report a sudden need to nap every day, and falling asleep earlier than usual. Nausea is common, but generally occurs later.

Remember, every woman is different, as is every pregnancy. Just because you had experienced morning sickness with one pregnancy, doesn t mean you will with others. Likewise, abdominal bloating and tender breasts are not guaranteed to plague you just because they targeted your sister or best friend during their pregnancy. Take time to enjoy your pregnancy and all that it blesses you with. Undesirable symptoms will pass quickly, and soon you ll have a great reward for those nine months, you re new little one.
