SECONDARY SOMATOSENSORY AREA (S2)

Refers to a portion of the parietal lobe within the cerebral cortex that is defined on the basis of multiple methods and that represents the sensibility to touch stimulation of the skin. Accepts express projections from the primary sensory region and sends them to various portions of the lateral parietal cortex, motor, and premotor areas. See also: somatosensory area.
