RETT SYNDROME

Especially presenting in female children, a degenerative disorder which becomes apparent between six and eighteen months of age wherein the child experiences swift regression of skills, including cognitive, motor, and social skills. Subsequent stabilization occurs at a level which renders the child mentally disabled.
