PURKINJE SHIFT

The phenomenon of the apparent shifting of the perceived colors of an object as the intensity of light shining on it changes. For instance, the yellow of a flower at noontime is far different when observed under the light of a setting sun.

PURKINJE SHIFT: “The purkinje shift describes the fact that a rose can be perceived as bright red at one point and then almost black as the intensity of light shining on it changes.”
