The pro-innovation bias is a prevailing belief that society should adopt innovations without allowing for social alterations. For example, following the invention of atomic bomb and atomic power, many legislators and other futurists promoted the widespread use of atomic power to replace conventional power sources (wood, coal, oil) without adequate examination of the possible dangers posed by atomic power and the adoption of safeguards and regulations concerning these threats.
