PRINCIPLE OF INERTIA

Also referred to as the inertia principle, this psychoanalytical theory explains the tendency of an organism to expend as little energy as possible by a predisposition to unconscious automatic actions rather than relying on conscious ones. It is the opinion of some that the principle of inertia is an underlying component of repetition compulsion.

PRINCIPLE OF INERTIA: “The principle of inertia appeared to be a factor in Gene’s always putting his socks on before his pants.”
