PLATEAU’S SPIRAL

a stimulant utilized to cultivate a vivid movement aftereffect which contains a black and white spiral rotated around its core point. Depending upon the direction of rotation, the spiral will seem like it is growing larger or getting smaller whenever viewed consistently while it’s rotating. However, whenever the spiral is stopped it will seem to progress in the other direction, producing a perception of growth or shrinking. Further, the illusory growth or shrinking will apply to any other still item observed immediately after stopping the spiral.

PLATEAU’S SPIRAL: “Plateau’s spiral was named after it’s founder, a Belgian physicist named Joseph Antoine Ferdinand Plateau.”
