Oogenesis or ovogenesis is the process of development or production of an ovum or egg cell. This term came from the Greek prefix “oo-” which means “egg” and Greek word “genesis” which means “the coming into being of something”. This is analogous to spermatogenesis which is the development of sperm cells.
