MICROELECTRODE

is a small part of a battery for example, an electrode which has a tip which is not larger than a 3-4 micrometres in diameter. Normally, this is less than 1 micrometer which means the microelectrode can be inserted into a single cell.

MICROELECTRODE: “Microelectrodes, when fixed to the ends of neurons, can detect and record the level of activity within that neuron.”
