LOCO PLANT

any plant which belongs to the genus Astragalus or Oxytropis which grows abundantly in the wild of Western North American, especially in the Rocky Mountains. The plant earns its name due to the damage to nerve cells it causes in the bodies of animals and humans who ingest it leading to symptoms typical of poisoning such as trembling and a lack of coordination.
