Unintelligible speech in which correct words are intermingled with words that are completely out of context; the use of words that have no relation to the intended meaning. This condition is a form of sensory aphasia-—the inability to comprehend meaning—and is found in various disorders, such as Pick’s disease, which result from lesions in the left temporo-parietal region of the brain.It is also observed in certain cases of severe mental retardation.
