Cyclothymic Disorder

A person with Cyclothymic Disorder has a history of at least two years of mood swings from mild depression to slight mania or hyperactivity. Affecting mostly women, the person is unable to function well socially, at work or at home and also becomes at risk for alcohol and drug abuse. Unlike ‘normal’ mood swings which we can snap out of, the person with Cyclothymic Disorder needs medication as well as psychotherapy in order to get better.
