a lens affixed to a position anterior to the eyeball to repair or bolster vision. With regard to eyeglasses, a couple of such lenses that are placed into a frame and fixed onto the face, with the ears and nose as supporting structures. With regard to contact lenses, these are placed in direct contact with the eye on its surface.
