CATALEPSY

n. a trance-like condition in which a person is observed to be in a state of prolonged and sustained unresponsiveness. It is accompanied by fixed posture and muscle rigidity. This condition is seen in epilepsy and schizophrenia. Also called catatonic rigidity.
