CARUS TYPOLOGY

n. a classification of human body constitution into five types, namely: 1) the cerebral type, 2) the athletic type, 3) the phthisic type, 4) the phlegmatic type, and 5) the sterile type. Proposed by German physiologist and psychologist Carl Gustav Carus (1789-1869).
