CAROTODYNIA

n. a form of pain that is caused by pressure upon the common carotid artery. This pain is felt along the check, on the neck, and over the eyes. As to carotidynia, refers to unilateral (one-sided) pain on these same areas, the most common cause of which could be migraine. First described by U.S. neurosurgeon Temple Fay in 1927.
