CARBONIC ANHYDRASE INHIBITORS

n. a group of chemical compounds which inhibit the action of carbonic anhydrase as an enzyme. (Trade name: Diamox) Originally used as diuretics, these compounds are now used in the management of glaucoma, epilepsy, and acute mountain sickness.
