BONE AGE

n. a measure which evaluates the skeletal maturity of an individual’s bones. Specifically, bone is assessed as to its stage of ossification. It also takes into consideration any accelerated growth or delay in bone formation. These are measured by means of an x-ray imaging of the hand, wrist, and fingers.

BONE AGE: “A bone age test helps study the skeletal structure of children, especially along their growth plates where the bones are still maturing.”
