BETA BLOCKERS

n. medications which are proven to reduce heart muscle activity and slow down heart rate. They are present in antihypertensive drugs and, thus, help manage hypertension as a disease. Occasionally, they may be prescribed to relieve symptoms of anxiety. Also called beta adrenergic blocking agents.

BETA BLOCKERS: “Classified as antagonists, beta blockers work on beta adrenoreceptors, thereby slowing down heart rate and reducing its muscle activity.”
