BATSON V KENTUCKY

n. a 1986 case in which the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against the practice of dismissing jurors without valid cause and due to their race. Deemed unconstitutional by the court, it clearly violated the Fourteenth Amendment along the lines of its equal protection clause.

BATSON V KENTUCKY: “The Batson v. Kentucky case regulated the use of peremptory challenge wherein the prosecution could dismiss jurors solely on the basis of their race.”
