AUTOSCOPY

n. refers to the seeing of an identical double of oneself in external space. The image is generally short-lived, hazy, filmy, and colorless and may be characteristic of certain medical and psychological conditions. Also known as the autoscopic phenomenon. See also doppelganger effect.

AUTOSCOPY: “A person experiencing autoscopy likely reports seeing an identical person to him or herself in an external environment.”
