AUSCULTATION

n. a diagnostic method in which the examiner, who is usually a doctor, listens for sounds within the body either with a stethoscope (mediate auscultation) or directly, by laying his or her ear on the surface of the body (immediate auscultation).

AUSCULTATION: “Auscultation refers to the diagnosing of internal problems via listening to sounds in the body in some fashion.”
