AUDITORY LABYRINTH

the canals, ducts, and cavities in the temporal bone of the skull that contains sensory receptors for hearing. The cochlea forms an important part of this bony labyrinth. The hair cells, or auditory receptors, are located within the cochlea duct. This is one of the membrane-lined ducts that forms part of the membranous labyrinth. Also known as the acoustic labyrinth.
