ATAQUE DE NERVIOS

a culture-bound syndrome observed mainly among Latinos, and most similar to anxiety. Common symptoms include trembling, crying, uncontrollable shaking, verbal aggression (or both), and in some cases seizure-like or fainting episodes. Some individuals report having no memory for the episode afterward. Attacks often occur as a result of a stressful event related to the family, and many patients report a quick recovery once the stressor is removed.
