ANTICONFORMITY

n. a deliberate, self-conscious refusal to comply with accepted social norms, often accompanied by the expression of ideas, beliefs, or judgments that challenge those standards, and work to deliberately undermine the prevailing standards. Anticonformity is motivated by rebelliousness or a belief that the rules do not apply, as opposed to genuineness or a need to express oneself sincerely. Also known as counterconformity. Compare conformity- nonconformity.

ANTICONFORMITY: “The person who believed in anticonformity dressed in red, as opposed to black, for the funeral.”
