Scale Overview
The Reckless Behavior Questionnaire – RBQ was developed by Jeffrey Arnett (1989). It is designed to measure Reckless Behavior. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and young adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 10 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never, 1 = Once, 2 = 2-5 times, 3 = 6-10 times, 4 = More than 10 times.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Reckless Behavior: 0 – 10
- Moderate Reckless Behavior: 11 – 25
- High Reckless Behavior: 26 – 40
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
